Crazy Horse in South Dakota

The Crazy Horse monument, which is going to be the largest sculpture in the world once completed, was my favorite site to see in South Dakota.  This is a pretty amazing sculpture in so many ways... 1) Crazy Horse is an Indian warrior and hero in the 1870's who never gave up his land and refused to live on a reservation, 2) The man that started building it has 10 kids and a wife (him and his wife are in one of these pictures) who are still involved in the project today even though he has passed, 3) They have not and will not take any state or federal funding even though they have been offered, 4) This entire project started because one of the Lakota Indian Chiefs wanted "the white man to know that the red man has heros as well".
