While visiting in Nebraska, we had some time to check out their local museum in Grand Island, NE. Because the Oregon Trail came right through this area, the museum was filled with pioneer memorabilia. On campus, they also had an old railroad town that was in the 1890 time period... we got to tour the old houses, the blacksmith, woodworker store, general market store, hat store, etc. It was kind of unique because they had people in the various shops all dressed up in the time period, showing us around, teaching us about what they did back then. Very cool.
